St. David’s Georgetown Hospital Welcomes Interventional Pulmonology and Critical Care Physicians
Dominic R. de Keratry, M.D. and Esther L. Fields, D.O., both board certified Pulmonary and Critical Care physicians who sub-specialize in Interventional Pulmonology, have joined St. David’s Georgetown Hospital. Dr. de Keratry and Dr. Fields co-own Georgetown Pulmonary Associates, P.A., located next to the hospital.
Dr. de Keratry previously was the Director of Interventional Pulmonology and Pulmonary Procedures and Dr. Fields was the Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple.
“The addition of Dr. de Keratry and Dr. Fields to St. David’s Georgetown Hospital elevates the level of acute care we offer in our intensive care unit to Georgetown and surrounding communities,” Hugh Brown, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital Chief Executive Officer, said. “His expertise in interventional pulmonology and those of his colleague, Dr. Fields, are unparalleled in the field of pulmonary medicine. With their training and experience, most patients needing critical pulmonary care will no longer have to be transferred to larger facilities. Those critically ill patients can now receive treatment right here in Georgetown.”
Interventional pulmonology, over the last 20 years, has advanced the level of care provided to pulmonary patients.
“We can treat and diagnose airways diseases, including lung cancer, tracheal stenosis, airway bleeding and pleural disease or inflammation of the lining of the lungs,” Dr. Fields said. “We also will provide basic pulmonary care, including management of COPD, asthma and other respiratory diseases.”
Dr. de Keratry completed his residency and internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Fields completed her residency and internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She received a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Both physicians completed their Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship training at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple.
“I am thrilled to be a part of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital and to be practicing in the Georgetown community,” Dr. de Keratry said. “It is important that residents of Georgetown and surrounding communities have access to critical pulmonary care close to home and we are happy to help provide this service.”
