Shades of Purple Theme for March 27th Event

Tickets to the Second Anniversary Party at the Long Center for the Performing Arts are now on sale to the public. The evening, themed ‘‘Shades of Purple,” will kick off with a VIP sponsor event on the West Lawn featuring Austin’s own Ray Benson and friends and dinner by the bite catered by the Four Seasons Austin. The public is invited to the evening’s centerpiece entertainment, a concert by Hall & Oates, followed by several after parties throughout the Long Center. All attendees are encouraged to dress in shades of purple to celebrate the theme of the evening.

Long-time Long Center supporters Patty Huffines, chair of the Long Center’s development committee, and Bobbi Topfer, the Long Center’s inaugural gala chair, are co-chairs of the Long Center’s Second Anniversary Celebration.

The keystone event of the evening is the concert by the legendary rock duo Daryl Hall & John Oates in the main Dell Hall. All of Austin is invited to attend the concert, followed by several amazing after parties with food, drinks and great entertainment throughout the building—from a tent on the West Lawn, to the Kodosky Donor Lounge, to the breathtaking views from the City Terrace, to the intimate Rollins Studio Theatre. This multi-faceted evening of entertainment is truly not to be missed.

Hall & Oates
Daryl Hall and John Oates have sung together since the 1970’s and are one of the most successful duos in rock history. Their “rock & soul” sound has been hugely popular, with over 60 million albums sold and a total of eight #1 hit singles. They have produced dozens of hits, including “Do It For Love,” “Rich Girl,” “Kiss On My List,” “Maneater,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),” “Sara Smile,” “She’s Gone,” and “One On One.”

Long Center for the Performing Arts
The $77-million Long Center for the Performing Arts held its grand opening in March 2008. It features two performance venues—the 2,400-seat Michael & Susan Dell Hall and the 240-seat Debra and Kevin Rollins Studio Theatre. The Long Center is home to performances of the Austin Lyric Opera, Austin Symphony Orchestra and Ballet Austin, and to productions in the Long Center Presents series.

The nonprofit Long Center was founded on the belief that the performing arts are essential components in the quality of life of our community. Our performing arts organizations—from the smallest to the largest—deserve and need facilities that reflect their contribution to the culture of our community. The Long Center was built using private funds raised by the nonprofit organization that operates the facility and leases it from the City of Austin. For more information about the Long Center, visit www.thelongcenter.org.
