Harden Healthcare Adds New Company; Names Dr. Maryann Choi Chief Medical Officer

Harden Healthcare is adding a new company, MBS Integrated Care, to its Long-Term Care Division. The new company will provide comprehensive geriatric medical care to long-term care facilities, hospice settings and in the home. In addition to MBS Integrated Care, Harden’s Long-Term Care Division includes MBS Rehab, MBS Pharmacy and TRISUN Healthcare, an operator of senior care facilities throughout Texas.

Harden also announced that Dr. Maryann M. Choi has been named chief medical officer of Harden Healthcare. In this newly created position, Dr. Choi will provide high-level medical oversight to all of Harden’s companies, including TRISUN Healthcare, Girling Health Care, Lighthouse Hospice, MBS Rehab and MBS Pharmacy.

MBS Integrated Care will be headquartered in Georgetown, Texas, at 501 S. Austin Ave. Robert Choi has been named vice president of MBS Integrated Care and will oversee day-to-day operations for the new company.

MBS Integrated Care provides patient-centered care by on-site nurse practitioners, who partner with physicians, healthcare systems and staff to form a geriatric continuum of care, through a seamless delivery of coordinated, collaborative and comprehensive senior services and medical care. The primary goals of MBS Integrated Care are to improve quality of care, efficiency, communication and outcomes. 
 
Dr. Maryann Choi has extensive experience in geriatric care. Dr. Choi was previously the founder and president of SunStar Geriatrics Healthcare, a physicians group dedicated to geriatric medicine serving Central Texas.  Following residencies in internal medicine at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore and at New Rochelle Hospital in New York, she completed a fellowship in geriatrics at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She worked as a clinical instructor of medicine at Yale University School of Medicine and as an instructor of medicine at Albert Einstein Medical College in New York. She is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine and ABHPM certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and is also a certified medical director.

In addition, Dr. Choi served as an assistant professor of medicine at the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine. Dr. Choi holds master’s degrees in public health from the Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health and in computer science from Hofstra University. She was a Texas delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, was a board member of the Texas Department on Aging and currently serves on the Texas Health and Human Service Commission.

Robert Choi, vice president of MBS Integrated Care, was most recently chief operating officer of SunStar Geriatrics. He is actively involved in several medical associations with a particular focus on the aging. Choi holds a bachelors degree in economics from Emory University.
