Fabulous Former Interns

We like to stay in touch with our interns. Here is an update on what a few of them are up to:


 

Melanie Burke (Fall 2003)
Melanie is working at Ketchum Public Relations in Los Angeles where she is a member of the brand team. She first began her experience at Ketchum as an intern in the London office. After graduating from The University of Texas in December 2003, she moved to Los Angeles to begin her career in public relations and officially join the Ketchum team. Melanie currently works with Baby Einstein, Waterpik and Viking River Cruises.


 

Meghan Butler (Fall 2002)
Meghan is the Media Maven for Seventh Generation in Burlington, VT - the nation’s leading eco-friendly, non-toxic household and personal care products manufacturer. She was most recently with GCI Group – now Cohn & Wolfe – where she was first introduced to Seventh Generation and continued a long relationship before making the move in-house. She nurtured her passion for public relations with Elizabeth Christian and team and credits them for providing her formative and challenging experiences, paving the way for an enlightened career.


 

Amy Corenblith (Summer 2003)
After graduating from UT-Austin in May 2004, Amy began her career as part of Richards/Gravelle, the public relations arm of The Richards Group in Dallas. Her team works on several nonprofit accounts, including the Neiman Marcus Adolphus Children's Parade, the Dallas Citizens Council, Dallas Indicators, the Nasher Sculpture Center, Children's Medical Center and the United Regional Health Care Foundation in Wichita Falls. It's busy, but she's very happy there!


 

Amy Creswell (Fall 2003/Spring 2004)
Amy is currently an Assistant Account Manager at GSD&M Advertising on the Chili's Bar and Grill team. She began there in March of 2004 and was previously part of the Charles Schwab account team. She handles all aspects of the account from updating client status reports to competitive research to supervising photo shoots. As the "face to the agency", her primary responsibility on the account team is to create lasting and mutually beneficial client relationships, something she learned while at ECPR.


 

Rebecca Ingram (Spring 2005)
Since graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in August 2005, Rebecca has been working at Bury+Partners, Inc., a national civil engineering firm based in Austin, as a Human Resources Representative. She is in charge of new employee orientations and paperwork, a monthly company-wide newsletter, various fund-raising and marketing events, as well as general HR administration. Rebecca feels that her time spent at ECPR prepared her in countless ways, such as developing professionalism, handling client relations and concerns, and the importance of communication.


 

Brittany Chestnut (Magness) (Spring 2007)
Since graduating from the University of Texas in May 2007, Brittany spent some time at Edelman Public Relations in Dallas, TX working on clients such as the Project Management Institute. In July 2008, Brittany was hired by the American Heart Association's Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) department where she was responsible for developing marketing and promotional materials for AHA-certified emergency training products and guidelines for CPR and AED training. In June of 2009, Brittany moved into the communications department at the American Heart Association where she now works on special projects for Go Red For Women, Start! and AHA-science related programs. Brittany feels that her time at Elizabeth Christian & Associates gave her vital real-world public relations experience and helped her develop writing and pitching skills that have proved essential in her career.


 

Paul Mata (Fall 2001/Spring 2002)
Paul joined the agency in the fall of 2001 and worked with the team during his senior year at the University of Texas. After graduation, Paul moved to New York City to join the public affairs department of MTV: Music Television. At MTV, Paul worked on the Emmy-award winning "Fight For Your Rights: Protect Yourself" sexual health campaign as well as the voter empowerment campaign, "Choose or Lose: 20 Million Loud." Paul left MTV in the summer of 2004 and is now attending law school at the University of Michigan.


 

Britney Puryear (Summer 2002)
Since her time at Elizabeth Christian & Associates (as an intern and staff member), Britney has been working in the communications department at the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) in Austin, Texas. As the copywriter/project manager, she develops content for all LAF communications pieces and manages the creative and printing processes. She also works closely with the other members of her team to ensure that they are communicating the LAF message and mission correctly to their constituents, supporters and the public. According to Britney, "My work at Elizabeth Christian & Associates really prepared me for the work I am doing now."


 

Lauren Tuttle (Summer 2008)
Lauren is an account coordinator at a boutique public relations and design agency in Austin, Texas called Wyatt Brand that focuses on work with arts organizations, creative businesses, nonprofits and corporations in cultural endeavors. On the public relations team, Lauren manages multiple clients on her own and provides support for her team members. Lauren graduated cum laude from Texas State University—San Marcos in May 2009 with a B.A. in public relations and a minor in art and design.


 

Lauren Warthan (Fall 2006)
Lauren is currently an Account Coordinator at Porter Novelli Austin. Since her arrival in February 2007, Lauren has provided account support for a variety of local and national technology companies. On these accounts, Lauren has developed a solid PR foundation and has been honing her skills through various launch projects, events and ongoing client programs. Lauren holds a bachelor's in public relations and a certificate in Business Foundations from The University of Texas at Austin. She credits her internship at ECPR with teaching her the necessary PR skills to successfully enter agency life.


 

Lisa Wiedmann (Summer 2003/Fall 2003)
Lisa is currently the manager of annual giving at UT-Austin's McCombs School of Business. Upon receiving her B.A. in Public Relations from the University of Texas at Austin in December 2003, she parlayed her public relations experience into a position as the Finance Director for a State Representative campaign to coordinate fund raising efforts. Lisa credits the ECPR team for helping her develop the professionalism necessary in her current profession.


 

Will Zinser (Spring 2004)
Will interned at Elizabeth Christian PR in the Spring of 2004 and later returned to help with the publicity for Cirque du Soleil's Varekai. Since his internship, he has meandered around Austin stopping off at Zachary Scott Theatre Center as the Assistant to the Artistic Director and is now attending a circus arts program in Christchurch, New Zealand.
