Smith joined Elizabeth Christian & Associates in December of 2009. She comes to the agency with four years of public relations and communications experience with emphasis in media relations and client and event management.
Prior to joining ECPR, Smith worked as a public relations professional at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. As part of SMU’s News & Communications team, Smith handled public relations for the university related to development events, student activities/awards, and for all colleges across campus. She headed public relations efforts for SMU’s Tate Lecture Series, which has featured visits by former Mexican President Vicente Fox, news anchor George Stephanopoulos and actor Martin Sheen. Smith was also part of the team who coordinated Fox News Channel’s live broadcasts of “Hannity & Colmes” and “Live Desk with Martha MacCallum” and ABC’s “Good Morning America” broadcast from campus.
Smith gained experience early with her work at The Richards Group and two other agencies in Dallas and Fort Worth. During this agency time, she developed and advanced her skills in client management, writing, editing and media relations while working with national consumer clients.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and journalism from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science degree in public relations and advertising from Texas Christian University.
