Elizabeth Christian & Associates Public Relations (ECPR) offers an extensive internship program. Internship opportunities are typically given to two to four students per semester. Most interns are college seniors majoring in public relations or related fields and all are included in challenging assignments and client work.

ECPR internships are not paid, but do meet requirements for class credit. Interns typically work 15 hours per week in blocks of time (i.e. MWF 8:30 -1:30 or 12:30 - 5:30 OR TTH 8:30 - 1:30 or 12:30 - 5:30). It is important for the intern to commit to the internship for the entire semester. Paid parking is provided.

Ideal candidates have had several public relations classes, have strong writing skills and are familiar with the Associated Press (AP) writing style. Candidates must complete an application and provide a resume, cover letter and professional letter of recommendation from a previous employer or internship supervisor. If a professional letter is not available, a letter of recommendation from a public relations professor will suffice.

Interns perform such tasks as: creating media lists, coordinating research projects, providing event assistance, tracking and clipping news coverage, writing and editing press materials, distributing news releases, assembling media kits and various administrative duties. Interns are assigned a staff mentor and permitted to shadow the president.

because it allowed me to get my hands on a very broad variety of tasks that all played a role in getting the projects from inception to finish successfully. Aside from that, of course, I got to work with not only great clients, but also with such brilliant and creative people in the office from week to week.
