ECPR is proud to represent Google and Google Fiber in Texas. We provide a variety of services that support Google’s public policy initiatives throughout the state, including media outreach, messaging, event coordination and relationship building. ECPR works with Google Fiber on media outreach, community relations and marketing initiatives in Austin and San Antonio. We have also worked with the Google Self-Driving Car project (now called Waymo).
Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell, along with other City of Austin officials, announced in April 2013 that Google was bringing its 100x faster Internet connectivity—Google Fiber—to Austin, making the city the second in the nation to have this service. ECPR worked closely with Austin officials and Google Fiber to make the announcement event a tremendous success, as well as the best-kept secret in town up until the day of the announcement. Press coverage included virtually every media outlet in Austin, in addition to major national outlets.
Following the successful Austin announcement of Google Fiber, we began working on Google Public Policy projects throughout the state. We manage all proactive and reactive media relations in conjunction with the internal Google PR team. Projects include a wide range of focus, from school-centered events—including a very successful Made With Code event at Austin’s Ann Richards School with U.S. Senator John Cornyn—to announcing the state winner each year for the Doodle4Google contest. We’ve also worked on events featuring the Online Safety Road Show (online safety for middle schoolers), various product announcements and special events to help small businesses improve their online visibility.
We have worked with the Google Self-Driving Car project in Austin, including coordinating rides with reporters and various elected leaders to community events to provide an opportunity for Austinites to see the cars up close.
